Pictured above is an old Simcoe roper. It has many stories to tell, I'm sure. The horn has been
covered with leather, it is NOT original, (the original was huge and wooden - like a cannonball on a 4 poster bed).
This is a great using saddle. It has an intact, rawhide wrapped wooden tree (intact, as well).
The tree is strong, and undamaged. This particular tree is rather heavy, probably made from oak.
This saddle also has "on the tree" flat plate 3/4 double rigging (no back cinch), in using shape.
It has a wide (7") gullet and would be classed as a "Low down roper". It fits horses that are "mutton-withered"
best. It will also fit a foundation-type QH, with big shoulders. (It doesn't fit properly on high withered horses,
and would need a cutaway pad.
It has a 16" hard seat, is all smooth leather, and very comfortable to ride in all day on the trail.
The cantle is 2" high, cheyenne roll styled, leather bound, especially good for roping.
This is a solid saddle. Priced at $1500.00 usd.
