It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Little Boy Beaver
was humanely euthanized on the evening of December 9, 2003.
This decision was not made lightly, as he was in heart failure,
and had lost interest in eating.
His half-sister, Star Baby (age 29), was euthanized with Beav.
Many thanks to Dr. Luc Versevel, our Vet for coming promptly, and
for his compassion and understanding.
Good-bye, old friends...You're flying with the eagles, now!

| Beaver on his 31st Birthday |
This picture was taken on or just
after Beaver's 31st birthday, April 7th, 2001.
He's one amazing horse!!
On April 7, 2003, Beav celebrated his 33rd birthday...just as wild and wompy as ever!! Still the proud
stud!
He's pulled buggies for countless weddings in Winnipeg and the surrounding district, been ridden in parades,
signed in at a major hotel in Winnipeg, then rode the elevator (with Art on board) to the 19th floor for a
Grey Cup Party. He accepts new situations with total aplomb. Beaver is a real gentleman.
Beaver's
energy and handsome looks belie the fact that he was actually 33 years old at the time of his death. He's sired many
good colts, all with his great temperament, and way too smart, by half!

Beaver was born on Art Butler's Ranch, and
has lived here all of his life. His longevity is attributed to good animal husbandry, practised by Art, and now, Les.
Beaver has been on hay, oats and pasture for all of his life, and like most of the LB Ranch horses, has never been dewormed.
Rotation of pastures, enough space to run around in, and socialization are very important to horses and keeping them happy
and healthy.

The LB Ranch Logo, the rearing black
stallion, represents Beaver. Art taught Beav to rear on command when he was young, and the "old man" would still do
it upon request, right up to the time of his demise. Our ranch colors are black, (in honor of Beaver), bright blue and
light blue. (some people think this is appropriate, since it's the color of a fresh bruise!!)

How old do horses get??? Well,
horses can live longer and more productive, happier lives now, with all the medications, and nutritional supplements available. But,
Art always said: "Anything over twenty years is a bonus."
